  1. Phoenix

Removing a NAS proxy simply detaches the proxy from the NAS share. Phoenix stops performing backup and restore on the NAS share from which you remove the proxy. It is removed from the NAS proxies tab on the NAS device details page but remains mapped to a NAS device registered in Phoenix. You can map the proxy to map to backup sets later.

To remove a NAS proxy, you must either delete all the backup sets mapped to the proxy or map them to a different proxy. You cannot remove a proxy from a NAS share if it is mapped to a backup set. Both the approaches are explained in the procedure below.

To remove a proxy from NAS share:

  1. Phoenix
  4. Click the NAS device name to which the proxy is mapped. This displays the NAS device details page.
  5. Click the NAS share name to which the proxy is attached. This displays the NAS share details page.
  6. To remove the proxy by deleting all backup sets:
    1. Click More Actions > Delete against the backup set configured with the NAS proxy that you want to delete.
    2. Click Yes to confirm.
    3. Repeat these steps until you delete all the backup sets attached to the proxy.
  7. To remove the proxy by mapping its backup sets to a different proxy:
Note: You can use this option provided you have at least one alternate proxy to map to the backup set.
    1. Click More Actions > Edit against the backup set configured with the NAS proxy that you want to delete.
    2. Go to the NAS proxy tab on the Edit Backup Set window.
    3. Change the NAS proxy mapped to the backup set. This detaches the NAS proxy that you want to delete.
    4. Repeat these steps until you have detached all the backup sets mapped to the proxy.
  8. Click the NAS share link and return the NAS device details page.
  9. Click the NAS proxies tab.  The Mapped Backup Sets column must show zero for the proxy that you want to delete.
If there are any backup sets mapped, use the above steps to detach them from the proxy.
  10. Select the NAS proxy and click Remove

You can delete a NAS proxy when the following conditions are satisfied:

  • The proxy is detached from all the backup sets.
  • It is not the last proxy mapped to a NAS device.

When you delete a proxy, it is removed from Phoenix and you cannot map it again to a NAS device. To delete the last proxy mapped to a NAS device, you must first delete the device and then delete the proxy.

To delete a NAS proxy:

  1. Ensure you have removed the proxy from the NAS shares as described in Remove a NAS proxy from NAS share.
  2. On the NAS device page, click the NAS proxies tab.
  3. Select the NAS proxy to delete.
  4. Click Delete.
